Welcome to my kitchen!
My name is Melissa but my closest friends and family know me as Mia. I live just outside of Philadelphia with my husband and our beautiful, crazy daughter.
As our family’s primary chef, it’s my job to create healthy, tasty, filling meals 3 times a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks.. Well, you get where I’m going with this. It can be a little overwhelming to come up with new ideas each week.
I’m here to share my collection of favorite recipes that have fed my family over the years, and I hope they will help you to feed yours!
I am constantly inspired by the things I see around me – produce that looks particularly good that week at the grocery store, most of what Anne Burrell is making that day on Food Network, my latest perusal of Pinterest. But without a doubt the foundation of my cooking is my Italian background and the family that still lives in Italy. I was born and raised in Northern Italy and grew up surrounded by amazing cooks, particularly my grandmother. Anyone with an Italian grandmother will tell you that the very essence of true Italian food is simple, clean ingredients prepared with time, attention, and passion. It’s not at all about fancy ingredients or even being able to put a meal on the table in under 18 minutes. Instead it’s about putting good, healthy food on the table and enjoying it with the people you love. There’s a certain pride in providing food for your family that permeates Italian culture, and that’s a principle that I try to incorporate into my daily cooking. Not every dish shown on this site will be inherently “Italian”, but everything I make is created with those same Italian principles, time and again.
